O Canada!
Today was a pretty proud day for me as a father.
My eldest daughter was in her school choir and sang our National Anthem when the Olympic torch was brought through our community before heading to Vancouver for the Winter Olympics. As she was singing with the flame on the stage in front of thousands of people, I was bursting with pride, not only as a father but as a Canadian. For me it was quite an emotional time and it was the best rendition of “O Canada” I have ever heard! But yes, I might be biased.

In addition to my eldest doing the singing, my youngest was a real a trooper standing in the crowd (and it was quite the crowd) for a couple of hours, waving her flag and cheering. Not a complaint out of her.

And my daughter and I even got to hold the torch:
It was a really good day!

The Unofficial Revised Cananthem
O Canada! Our Home and cherished land!
True patriot love in all us thou command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
we stand on guard for thee.
Nous gardons notre terre glorieuse et libre!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee;
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
thank goodness that version died before it even got going.
